Installation

Newer versions of PCSX2 are standalone apps inside a zip file. Older versions of PCSX2 install using a wizard. I’ll explain both situations.

Setup is easy: just extract PCSX2 out of its zip file.

IMPORTANT! PCSX2 has to be put in a frequent folder on your own computer. I suggest Documents, Downloads, or make a folder on your desktop. If you place PCSX2 somewhere else on your primary C drive, then you could be restricting it to read-only access. Doing this prevents PCSX2 from storing anything.

Open PCSX2 by double-clicking on. If you installed PCSX2 with an install wizard, then you would start it from going to your Start menu (your programs list) and start up PCSX2 there.

PCSX2 welcomes you the very first Time Configuration screen. Click Next.

The following screen only reviews the plug-ins that come with PCSX2. You don’t have to do anything . Click Next.

Next is your BIOS screen. Click Open from Explorer, as shown below:You will be prompted with a”This route doesn’t exist. Make it? ” window. Click Create.

Note the path in which the BIOS folder is located. Open that folder up. Download the BIOS in case you haven’t already, unzip it, and drag on its contents to the BIOS folder. It should look something similar to below:

It’s very important that you match the preceding screenshot on your end. Don’t put the BIOS files in a sub folder within the BIOS folder!

Bring the”First Time Configuration” window. Click on the Refresh listing button (circled below). You should now see the Europe, Japan, and USA BIOS files appear in the white box.

Click your preferred country to select it. Then click Finish.

That’s it! PCSX2 is now fully installed and configured.

Preparing the keyboard or gamepad

Normally emulators have all of the keyboard keys preconfigured, however PCSX2’s keys are a clean slate the first time you open it! You have no choice but to configure them. Again, I recommend you to purchase a gamepad because the PlayStation 2 controller features a lot of buttons. Using only the keyboard is an annoying experience.
